The star-crossed lover return to Stratford
The Statford Festival Theatre presents a brand-new production of Shakespeare's tragic love story. Helmed by the Theatre's very own member Scott Wentworth, the roles of the two doomed lovers will be taken up by Sara Farb and Antoine Yared when it opens this June. With stunning design by Christina Poddubiuk and fight scenes by John Stead and Anita Nittoly, you will escape back to Renaissance Verona, and into the story of two warring families who both pay the ultimate price for their violent feud. A must-see for Shakespeare fans and students, the summer is looking very artistic indeed!
Verona's two-star-crossed lovers must thwart their two respective warring families if they are to be married and reconcile their loved ones. However, the actions of one rash cousin on Juliet's side spurs Romeo into a hasty and deadly action, leading to his exile from Verona. Juliet's family, meanwhile, are unaware of her marriage and have arranged for her to marry the eligible and wealthy Paris; she must take drastic measures to escape this fate. The rash actions of a few key players, bad timing and harsh justice all reverberate throughout the rest of the play, until its ultimately tragic conclusion.
