One of Shakespeare's most widely performed works, Twelfth Night is a boisterous comedy full of juicy characters, mistaken identities and some of the Bard's wittiest one-liners. The story follows twins Viola and Sebastian who are separated when their ship is wrecked off the coast of Illyria. Viola wakes up ashore, and presuming Sebastian has been lost at sea, disguises herself as a man and takes up work for of the island's rich Duke Orsino. From there the story becomes one comic set piece after another, as the cast of characters fall head over heels for people who aren't who they claim to be, and Sebastian turns up very much alive!
Leading this Stratford Theatre Festival is Sarah Afful as Viola and Rod Beattle as the outrageously pompous servant Malvolio.
