Michael Bennet's masterpiece!
A Chorus Line shines a light on the ensemble; the fear, struggle and emotion that is behind every anonymous face in the crowd. Through a mixture of dramatic performance and a confessional score, dancers audition for a show, some looking for their big break, just a job, or their very last chance. Running for 15 years on Broadway, A Chorus Line is an iconic piece of American musical theatre that never fails to disappoint with it's exhilarating and inspiring celebration of what it is to really chase your dreams.
I hope i get it: The story of a Chorus line
When 23 hopefuls vie for only eight places, A Chorus Line tells the story of a group of dancers auditioning to be part of a Broadway dance show. The first group is whittled down dancer by dancer, to 17 then to eight, by the jaded and fierce casting director, Zach. As each dancer step forward out of the shadows to audition, they each share their personal story honestly and openly, revealing their hopes, dreams and vulnerabilities, and why this show will change their life.
Amidst the overly confident wannabes softer characters emerge; a young woman who moved to dance as a means to escape the violence at home and a man struggles with his homosexuality. Some sweet, some sour, they all struggle for their once-in-a-lifetime chance to dance on the big stages.
