An evening of Indian music in the company of tabla genius Zakir Hussain
Ballet Jorgen du Canada once again presents their very Canadian version of the Nutcracker. Choreographed by Bengt Jorgen to Tchaikovsky's timeless music, The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition is a visual feast that features over 100 costumes, and backdrops comprised of well-known 20th Century artworks. Among the usual cavalcade of mice and tin soldiers, expect to see a few Mounties and lumberjacks.
Outrageously funny, dynamic, and joyful, "La Cage" remains one of the most socially relevant musicals since premiering on Broadway in 1983 and its constant revivals ensure that new generations of fans fall in love with it time and time again. Georges and Albin, a happily unmarried gay couple in St Tropez find their lives turned upside down when Georges' son shows up with a fiancee in turn - complete with her uber-conservative family.
World-renowned virtuoso Zakir Hussain returns to the USA for a series of exciting live performances. A devotee of the tabula, the instrument he has helped bring to prominence both in the West and his native India, expect a resplendent evening transportive of Indian music from this international phenomenon.
Enjoy the unmistakable sounds of this virtuoso quintet as they take to the road once more to share their engaging live show, bringing you a wonderfully lively evening that sees the group take on everything to big brass standards, jazz, baroque, ragtime and pop. Alongside a witty stage presence and theatrical effects, these guys more than prove they are the best in brass!
An all-American, all-male, drag ballet corps which parodies the conventions and cliches of romantic and classical ballet. For the future, there are plans for new works in the repertoire: new cities, states and countries to perform in; and for the continuation of the TROCKS' original purpose: to bring the pleasure of dance to the widest possible audience. They will, as they have done for nearly 40 years, 'Keep on Trockin'!
Stratford plays host to "London Assurance," the timeless comedy written by Dion Boucicault and centered around Sir Harcourt Courtly, an aging London dandy! Seeking to restore his fortunes, Sir Harcourt travels to Oak Hall to marry a young heiress, Grace Harkaway. However, his plans are disrupted by his rebellious son, Charles, and a host of eccentric characters, including the vivacious Lady Gay Spanker and her amiable husband, Dolly. There's witty exchanges and farcical situations aplenty, contrasting Sir Harcourt's outdated ideals with the more progressive attitudes of the younger generation.
